Examinations and treatments

The selection of specialist equipment permits diagnosis and follow up of various pathologies, especially retinal disorders and glaucoma.

There is a digital camera for fluo-angiography and an OCT-scanner that enables the diagnosis of retinal disorders such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetes, vascular retinal diseases and inflammatory conditions. These retinal disorders usually require treatment (laser treatments and intraocular injections).
For the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma, we have a pachymeter and OCT-scanner.
The service is also has a YAG laser to treat certain forms of glaucoma and secondary cataract.

Surgical procedures are performed in the one day clinic. Hospitalisation being available if required. Currently the most frequent are cataract (phacoemusification) and glaucoma (trabeculectomy and laser diode), surgery on the eyelids (blepharoplasty, meibomian cyst, drooping eye, hordeolum, entropeon, extropeon) and strabismus surgery.
