"Friends of the Europe Hospitals" Fund
ABOUT THE EUROPE HOSPITALS
The Europe Hospitals form a reference hospital complex for Brussels and the surrounding area. As a multilingual general hospital, we offer comprehensive care at all four sites: St-Elisabeth in Uccle, St-Michel in Etterbeek/European Quarter, the Bella Vita Medical Center in Waterloo and the External Consultation in Halle.
Thanks to the close collaboration between our 300 specialist doctors and our 1,800 staff members, we take care of almost 2,500 patients every day in order to make a precise diagnosis, offer appropriate treatment and provide appropriate and personalised care. To do this, we use state-of-the-art medical technology in a modern infrastructure that enables us to offer each patient high-quality care in the greatest possible safety and comfort.
ABOUT THE "FRIENDS OF THE EUROPE HOSPITALS" FUND
The "Friends of the Europe Hospitals" Fund, whose founders are Dr Albert Veys and Dr Charles Scheid, was set up in March 2024 to help the hospital's medical services improve the patient experience.
A "Friends of Fund" is managed by the King Baudouin Foundation. The management committee, with representatives of the founders, ensures the smooth running of the "Friends of" Fund. Donations of €40 or more per year to the Foundation benefit from a tax reduction of 45% of the amount actually paid (art. 145/33 CIR)'. Thanks to the guarantee provided by the King Baudouin Foundation, donors pay their donations with complete trust, knowing that they will be used for the specific projects for which they have been asked.
OUR ONGOING PROJECTS
INTEGRATIVE ONCOLOGY CARE PATHWAY
We want to improve the experience of patients undergoing One Day oncology treatment at our 2 hospital sites.
By offering them an opportunity to escape for a few moments during and after their treatment, we hope to have a positive impact on their healing process.
Our integrated care pathway includes: access to fitness or creative activities, a moment of celebration at the end of treatment, a cocoon kit for their return home, theme days and a varied and up-to-date library.
PEDIATRIC PLAYROOM PROJECT
This project aims to provide a new playroom for our pediatric patients by creating a large central room at the heart of the care unit. This space would welcome patients and their families to play (to distract themselves and leave their rooms), to bond (to play with parents and siblings) and to recharge their batteries (to return to calm after a difficult time). We would like to include in the project a provision for taking into account the specific needs of certain children through an inclusive layout.
