OUR ACHIEVEMENTS "MADE IN 2019"

SETTING UP A LARGE HOSPITAL NETWORK IN THE HEART OF EUROPE

The Europe Hospitals, the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, the Clinique Saint-Jean and the Clinique Saint-Pierre (Ottignies) have joined forces to create a strong medical project. The new hospital network can count on the expertise of nearly 12,000 professionals at the service of patients, who will have even greater access, close to home, to a complete range of care, including university care.

ON THE WAY TO JCI ACCREDITATIOn

In July 2017, the Europe Hospitals are committed to aiming for hospital accreditation by the Joint Commission International. Our hospital environment is changing rapidly and we are even more convinced today that JCI accreditation represents an important added value for patient safety in our hospital. In December 2019, a "Mock Survey" took place, which is a test audit that evaluates whether we are ready for the final audit, for which the hospital received a positive assessment. This means that we are well on the way to achieving accreditation. Given the COVID-19 health crisis we are going through, the final accreditation has been postponed until the first half of 2021.

NEW TRANSVERSAL MEDICAL SERVICEs

Since the merger of the Europe Hospitals almost 20 years ago, medical services of the same specialisation, but from a different hospital site, have been working according to their own organisation. In 2019, each medical service of the same speciality has merged in order to benefit from a common functioning and common objectives for all the Europe Hospitals. A single head of department, representing the specialty for both hospital sites, was also appointed. This important step in the creation of cross-disciplinary medical services now enables the development of joint medical projects to guarantee optimal care for our patients at both sites, and in all our medical specialties.

ACCREDITATION OF OUR PATHOLOGY LABORATORy

Our anatomopathology laboratory has been audited on its action plan and procedures by the Belac organisation in order to meet the requirements of the ISO 15189:2012 standard.
This ISO 15189:2012 standard specifies the quality and competence requirements applicable to medical biology laboratories.
Thanks to the hard work of the entire Anatomopathology team, the laboratory has been accredited.

OPERATIONAL interviews

The Human Resources (HR) department has relaunched the operational interviews as an HR development tool. The implementation of the operational interviews is aimed at the fulfilment and professional development of each employee in the performance of his or her duties. The operational interviews are an essential part of the staff retention policy and contribute to the development of a real feedback culture. The implementation of operational interviews is also part of our JCI accreditation process.

REDUCTION IN ADDITIONAL FEES

The doctors of the Europe Hospitals have chosen to limit their extra fees to a maximum of 200% so that patients who have taken out hospital insurance do not have to pay a deductible. This guarantees them maximum coverage during hospitalisation in a private room. With this approach, our Managing Director, Peter Fontaine, wishes "to reinforce the financial accessibility of care to our patients, while responding to the call of the Minister of Health Maggie De Block to make an additional effort on the burden of the hospital bill".

ONLINE APPOINTMENT CANCELLATION FORm

An appointment cancellation form has been created and put online on the Europe Hospitals website. This allows patients to cancel their appointments directly via the website instead of having to contact the relevant department by phone.

Payment via Payconiq

The Europe Hospitals are equipped with the Payconiq payment system for consultation registrations and hospital admissions at the St-Elisabeth and St-Michel sites.
This system allows patients to pay securely with their smartphone, without having to take out their wallet. All they have to do is download the "Payconiq by Bancontact" application in advance, scan the code made available to them at the registration desks and confirm it with their pin code.
