Pelvic floor physiotherapy
Pelvic floor PHYSIOTHERAPY
Our specialized physiotherapists can effectively address most complaints related to pain, difficult bowel movements, and urinary leakage through targeted exercise programs and personalized guidance.
Some examples:
- Exercises to contract and relax the perineum (*) (Kegel method)
- Biofeedback (using a probe to visualize muscle contractions)
- Electrostimulation (mild electrical impulses to activate the perineum)
- Perineal massage and relaxation techniques
- Posture and breathing exercises (such as the hypopressive method)
The perineum (*) , or pelvic floor, is a hammock-like group of muscles that extends from the pubic bone to the tailbone. The muscles of the perineum are constantly active:
- They support the organs of the pelvis (bladder, uterus, rectum)
- They ensure the closure of the sphincters, controlling the opening and closing of the bladder and rectum
- The perineum also contributes to the intensity of orgasms
Pessary
A pessary, or vaginal ring, is a medical device made of hypoallergenic plastic that is inserted into the vagina to support and counteract prolapse.
We will determine together which size or model is most suitable for you.
Medication
For certain types of urinary incontinence, we may recommend medications to take orally.
For some pelvic floor issues, we may prescribe a low dose of female hormones (vaginal application) to strengthen the tissues and evaluate the effect of this treatment.
